The 24th UTokyoIPL-CUTI seminar: Key Technologies for Intelligent Transformation of Large Container Terminals
We will conduct a special seminar, in which Dr. Ying Jiang (Southeast University) is invited to give a talk titled “Key Technologies for Intelligent Transformation of Large Container Terminals.” This event is held in a hybrid style from 1:00-2:00pm (Japan Standard Time) on 21st November (Friday), 2025.
We hope you will join us for the event and engage in this important conversation. The details are shown as follows. Thank you.
1) Time and day
1:00pm-2:00pm (Japan Standard Time), 21st November (Friday), 2025
2) Place
Seminar room of International Project Lab, Department of Civil Engineering, UTokyo (3rd floor of Engineering Building No.11, Hongo Campus, UTokyo) and Zoom meeting room (https://u-tokyo-ac-jp.zoom.us/j/88149503372?pwd=rdTxzgRU12GSok1Lk1nMgb1vOSwMaF.1)
3) Presentation
– Presenter: Dr. Ying Jiang (Associate Professor at the School of Transportation, Southeast University, China)
– Title: Key Technologies for Intelligent Transformation of Large Container Terminals
– Abstract: Ports under various stages, e.g., mechanical-, automatic-, and/or labor-based, may face different technical demands toward the realization of the “smart” functions. Before the construction of smart ports with properties of comprehensive perception, deep integration, ubiquitous interconnection, and efficient scheduling, it is imperative to implement intelligent transformation of large container terminals. Based on a brief overview of the intelligent transformation background in China, the development demands and key technologies for intelligent transformation of large container terminals are introduced under different deployment contexts. Some research efforts, including the initial trails, experiences, and achievements, will be shared in terms of the smart port database preparation, port digital twin technology investigation, port traffic management, and technical investigation on the operation and scheduling optimization of large container terminals.
4) Short bio of presenter
Dr. Ying Jiang is an associate professor at the School of Transportation, Southeast University, China. She received her Ph.D. in Development Science-Transportation Engineering from Hiroshima University (Japan) in 2016. Prior to current position, she used to work as Associate professor at Dalian University of Technology, Assistant professor and Special appointed post-doctoral researcher at Hiroshima University, and Research associate at the University of Washington, Seattle (USA). Her research interest covers both road and maritime transport, focusing on the road safety, smart city, and sustainable road infrastructure planning, etc. Until now, she has published more than 70 refereed academic papers.
