Urban Transportation in Kathmandu Valley: Current Challenges and Future Directions
Seminar Overview: Kathmandu Valley is currently facing a range of urban transportation challenges associated with rapid urbanization and growing travel demand. JICA is leading the development of a new urban transportation master plan for the Valley. In parallel, research on the development and improvement of pedestrian spaces in Kathmandu is being conducted with support from a research grant provided by the Japan Society of Civil Engineers (JSCE). Against this background, the seminar aims to develop a shared understanding of the current transportation situation in Kathmandu Valley, identify key challenges for future planning and implementation, and discuss relevant policy directions.
