1_Features of Spring and Autumn Conferences
From 1978 to 2001, a conference was held once in every autumn, but from 2002, they were held twice a year in spring and autumn. Until 2018, the spring conference was mainly composed of special research topics from the IP members, and the fall meeting was mainly composed of free submitting papers. However, in order to vitalize both conferences, after 2019, the contents of the conferences will be as follows.
<Spring Conference (free post type)>:
■ Based on thesis presentation (general, special, poster)
■ As a general rule, held in a metropolitan area
■ Duration: 2 days
■ Issue lecture book
■ The dissertation can be submitted to a reviewed dissertations (The Lecture Book of the Japan Society of Civil Engineers D3 Special Issue: Expected to be Published in the Next Mid-April of the Fiscal Year) at a later date (late June of the same fiscal year).
<Autumn Conference (special research topics type)>
■ Thesis presentation (special research topics section) + special session + special lecture, the constitution that centers on invited lectures
■ As a general rule, held in local cities
■ Duration: 3 days
■ Issue lecture book
■ The dissertation can be submitted to a reviewed dissertations (The Lecture Book of the Japan Society of Civil Engineers D3 Special Issue: Expected to be Published in the Next Mid-April of the Fiscal Year) at a later date (late June of the same fiscal year). However, the lecture in the special session does not have the right of posting to the reviewed papers.

3_Management, Lecture Book, and Dissertations
(1) Management of Biannual Conferences
1) Spring Conference (free submission type) is conducted by the Conference Management Subcommittee Spring Conference Department, in conjunction with the Scientific Subcommittee. Its main task is to assist the JSCE staff in program formulation and management, and the administrative work associated with them.
2) Autumn Conference (special research topics type) will be conducted by the Conference Management Subcommittee Autumn Conference Department. Its main task is to assist the staff members of the JSCE on program organization and management, recruitment and planning of special research topics papers and SS, and office work associated with them.
(2) Publication of lecture books and dissertations
■ Lecture book:
Lecture book will be issued in advance for both spring and autumn events
■ Reviewed dissertations:
At both Spring Conference and Autumn Conference (except SS), lecture presenters have the right to submit the disserted papers to the Reviewed Dissertation (but only the dissertation within the past 2 years), and the special issue of the Lecture book of the JSCE D3 (Infrastructure Planning and Management))).
